About This Website

The old website 1999-2007The old website 1999-2007
Website composed by ofek.

Some history: The first website was built in the summer of 1999 and remained intact for eight years (!) With time, certain technologies disappeared (like visual Hebrew...) and new technologies appeared (fast internet, CSS...), and it was necessary to upgrade the site. It wasn't easy to create a new design that would be nicer than the previous one... but after much varied and failed experimentation – and many hours' investment – here are the results before you. For me it was a creative and artistic experience, from the bottom of my heart.

The website is stored on servers operated by DreamHost. This company is employee-owned and it purchases enough carbon-credits to account for their energy usage. Full details here.

The website was designed as a tool for helping you make comparisons before choosing a guest unit. All the photos were taken by us - amateur photographers with a simple camera.

The main motifs in its design:

  • Easy access to the many pages, and especially the ones of the guest units.
  • The colors of the sunrise and other natural colors from the garden.
  • Emphasis on the stunning scenery.
  • To try to transmit through this medium the rich Garden of Eden that is found here.

The flowers that signify each unit are all wildflowers (Aside from the sweet pea which we love so much..) from our garden in springtime. As you can see, the unit that bears my name is presented with the Milk Thistle or the Bar-Kan (meaning Feral Here) read this about my connection with this amazing plant...

The panoramic photo at the bottom of the page is a composite of five connected pictures that were taken from one spot in our yard.

The drawing that is part of the logo was drawn by Ms. Sahara.

Thanks to Savta Sharona Tel-Oren (Anva's mom) for her help in English translation. Please note that the well-loved historic Hebrew children's classic "Masa HaBubot l'Eretz-Israel"-- which was written in 1934 by her father Avraham Regelson (and she is the heroine of the book, the dolls' mother) has been reprinted by her, and also translated into English as "The Dolls' Journey to Eretz-Israel". The book has been accepted in the "Parade of Books" project sponsored by the Ministry of Education to promote quality reading, and is on sale at the reception office. A great holiday gift for the young of all ages!

Thanks to David Brushin for his help in Russian translation. David offers his translation services: +972-(0)-508-742944 or dbrushin@gmail.com We are very pleased with the service he provided and warmly recommend him.

OfeK would like to thank the thieves who stole and liberated him from his laptop and backups, and thus forced him to recreate the website with a different slant..

The site uses open source technologies, PHP and SQLite at its core.
